What to check before you buy a condo-hotel unit
- The rental program agreement. How revenue is split with the operator, which costs come out first, and how many nights you can use the unit yourself.
- Financing. Many lenders treat condo-hotel units differently from regular condos. Expect a larger down payment and fewer loan options.
- Fees and reserves. Association fees, furniture replacement, and brand standards all come out of owner returns.
- Resale. The buyer pool for condo-hotel units is mostly investors, which affects how quickly they sell.
