Indian Shores, FL Real Estate Guide
Indian Shores sits between Redington Shores and Indian Rocks Beach on a narrow part of the barrier island. It’s quieter than the busier beach towns, home to the Seaside Seabird Sanctuary, and lined with Gulf-front condos, with homes and docks along the bay.
Where people live
Gulf-front condos, from older low-rise buildings to taller towers, most with direct beach access.
Bay-side homes and townhomes, many with docks on the Intracoastal Waterway.
What moves value in Indian Shores
- Building health. With so much of the market in condos, reserves, inspections, and assessments matter as much as the unit.
- Elevation and flood. The island is narrow and low; elevation certificates and insurance quotes are essential.
- Rental rules. The town and many associations set minimum stays. Confirm both before buying for rental income.
Local favorites
- Seaside Seabird Sanctuary. On the beach side of Gulf Boulevard, the sanctuary rescues and rehabilitates injured birds, treating at least 3,000 a year, and is home to permanent residents that can’t be released. It was rebuilt after the 2024 hurricanes and welcomes visitors.
- Pelican releases. Rehabilitated birds are periodically released back onto the beach, a local favorite to watch.
- Suncoast Beach Trolley. Runs along Gulf Boulevard between St. Pete Beach and downtown Clearwater, a car-free way to reach John’s Pass, the beaches, and dinner.
Hours and offerings change, especially as businesses finish post-storm rebuilding, so check before you go.
What the market looks like
Across the Gulf beaches, homes are taking longer to sell than they did a few years ago, most sell a few percent below their list price, and price reductions are common. Indian Shores sees a limited number of sales each month, so published medians can swing sharply from one month to the next.
