Pet-Friendly Beach Condos on the Pinellas Beaches
Aktualisiert im Oktober 2026.
The short answer: Pet rules are set by each condo association, and they change when owners vote. Of the 54 beach buildings we have written guides for, 27 report allowing pets in some form, one allows cats only, 16 report no pets and 10 have sources that conflict. Weight limits of 20 to 50 pounds are common, a handful of buildings report no weight limit or limits near 100 pounds, and several allow pets for owners but not for tenants.

How beach condo pet rules work
- The rule is in the documents. Pet rules live in the declaration and the rules and regulations. A listing remark is a summary, not the rule.
- Owners and tenants can differ. Ocean Sands, Madeira Towers and Holiday Villas III are examples where sources describe a stricter rule for renters or guests.
- Rules change. Owners can vote to amend the documents. Ask whether existing pets were allowed to stay after a past change, and whether a change is being discussed now.
- Approval and fees. Some associations require registration, approval or a fee for each pet.
- Assistance animals are handled under fair housing law, separately from an association’s pet rules. Ask the association or an attorney how that applies to your situation.
